Kand / Sugar Cone is used by Kashmiri Pandits during Shivratri / Herath. Each family member dips the Kand in Gaagar filled with Walnuts and water. It is then left in Gaagar till 3-4 days till Doon Amavasya. The sweetness of Kand sweetens the Walnut Giri naturally.
